Henri Matisse, my favorite painter.

Vibrant color, simple expressive shapes. less detail, more impact, more feeling…

The first time when I saw his original cut-out works in 2003 at the Matisse Picasso exhibit in MOMA New York, I could not help but immediately moved to tears, the scale, the vibrancy, élan toward life was so deeply touching knowing that these works were produced in his later years… I could relate to why the BBC host was also moved to tears inside Chapelle du Rosaire that Matisse designed, as he said, “there is so much peace, so much life, so much love…” Truly inspiring!
